Big plywood sheet with one hand is not funny job. Wind catches it, balance goes bad, and suddenly you feel like sheet is carrying you instead of you carrying sheet.
For me the best way is some kind of panel carrier tool. Much better than trying to grab sheet from bottom with fingers only. With one arm, grip and balance matter a lot. If tool gives better hold, whole job becomes less stupid and less tiring. In that thread, the tool picked was a Kreg Panel Carrier.
Plywood sheet is not only heavy. It is awkward. That is the real problem. Weight is one thing. Size is another thing. Big flat sheet wants to twist, swing, and fight with you all the way. If there is little wind, then it becomes even more “fun.” Not good fun.
So for me, anything that helps keep sheet close to body is already big help. Better control. Better balance. Less chance to drop it or hit something. Also less chance to look like idiot wrestling with a door-sized pancake in public.
I think with one arm you start respecting simple tools much more. Small tool can save your back, your energy, and your mood. People with two hands maybe do not think about it. They just grab and go. For us, one good handle can change whole job.
Of course, if sheet is too big or too heavy, best way is still not being hero. Get help. Or cut it first if possible. No shame in that. Smarter is better than tougher.
So yes, panel carrier looks like good solution for this kind of job. Simple. Practical. And better than fighting full plywood sheet barehanded like some low budget action movie.
