Cleaning ear with one hand is one of those small things nobody thinks about. Before, it was easy. Now it can become stupid problem.
When you have only one arm, you must be more careful with anything near ear. Balance is different. Control is different. And if tool slips, it can go wrong fast. So for me the main thing is safety first. Better slow and awkward than doing damage.
Cotton buds are not best solution. Easy to push wax more inside. Easy to lose control too. That is why I started looking at other tools. Something with better grip. Something easier to use with one hand. Camera ear cleaner with light maybe can help. At least you can see what you are doing better. Not sure if it will work perfect, but for low price maybe worth trying.
I think tools matter a lot here. If handle is too small, too slippery, or too thin, it becomes annoying with one hand only. Better when tool is simple, stable, and easy to hold. Nothing fancy. Just something that gives more control.
Also sometimes best thing is not trying to do too much alone. If ear is blocked badly, or wax is deep, or hearing feels strange, better let doctor or clinic do it. Easier and safer than making bigger problem at home.
This is one more example how normal little tasks become different with one arm. People do not notice these things until they live it. Washing, cutting nails, opening jars, cleaning ear. Small jobs, but they need new way now.
So yes, I am also still looking for good solution. Maybe camera tool is helpful. Maybe not. But when you live one arm life, sometimes you just try simple things and see what works best.
